Where to find me

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

This week I am excited to update you on my schedule and availability.  It is jam-packed, and I am loving the variety I find in my week.  Keep in mind that all massage and private yoga sessions are by appointment only.

Monday and Thursday mornings, begin your day doing yoga, overlooking the beautiful tropical waters of the Florida Keys,  from 8:30-10:00, on Little Torch Key, at Parmer’s Resort.  These classes are outside, and are a true reminder to why we are here in the Southernmost US, especially during the winter months.

On Monday and Thursday, I continue my day, offering massage in the studio I now share at Good Food Conspiracy, the fun and funky health food store and cafe on Big Pine Key.  I am also available for in-home sessions throughout the Lower Florida Keys.

Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you can book massage appointments and private yoga sessions with me in the studio I share at the Heron Building, in Key West.  This historic Key West building was built over the water.  You literally “walk the plank” to the entrance.  It was also the filming location for the TV show “Flipper” in the early 1960′s.  I share this space with two other incredible women and teachers, Nancy Curran and Daniela Menardi. On these days, I am also available for in-home sessions in Key West.

On Saturday afternoons, you can find me at Isle Style Salon & Boutique, offering massage and working with my friend Oakleigh, in a beautiful Victorian building on Simonton Street.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights I am waiting tables at Azur Restaurant, an awesome Mediterranean inspired restaurant on the corner of Fleming & Grinnell, in Key West.   All the money I make from this job will be paying my way for the trip I am currently planning around the world, with an emphasis on Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.  If you are planning to eat out in Key West, consider coming to see me there, for a memorable dining experience.

Well, that’s my fun-filled, jam-packed week in a nutshell.  Contact me with any questions or to set up an appointment.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Warming up

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Looking forward to doing yoga outside again, as the weather has warmed up for us here in the Keys.  It has been unusually cold, keeping us from our regular practice outside.  So, join me Thursday morning for vinyasa class from 8:30-10:00 at Parmer’s Resort on Little Torch Key.  Also, I still have a couple massage appointments available tomorrow at my studio space on Big Pine Key, so if you need to let go of some pre-holiday stress, contact me.

The Table and The Mat

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

What a great article I just read in the most recent issue of Massage & Bodywork Magazine, entitled “The Table and The Mat – The Union of Bodywork with Yoga.”  If you are a fan of either massage or yoga, or are just curious about them, this is a great article focusing on the healing facets of both, and how beneficial they are when used together.  It speaks of how yoga and massage may assist us in moving through limitations: physical, emotional, and mental.  This resonates clearly with me and my practice.  Enjoy the read!

Be Inspired

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

I woke today to read Yoga Journals Daily Insight, today entitled “Be Inspired.”  The focus is on how through yoga we can make great shifts in our lives, and thus out to others.  This spoke to me, as it is a huge part of my own practice.  I have shared it with you here.

“Our asana practice can have a positive impact on our lives because it constantly asks us to become more sensitive, more conscious, and more aware of our bodies, minds, feelings, and emotions. As our sensitivity increases, life becomes more rich and enjoyable because we can taste the unique flavor of each individual moment. More important, we also become more aware of what moves us toward our dharma, or life path, and what takes us away from it. This awareness makes us clearer and more peaceful, more able to elegantly handle life’s endless dilemmas without feeling overwhelmed or fearful. As a result, we become more effective in all of our actions, and our presence begins to inspire and bring out the best in people around us.

The awareness that we develop on the yoga mat, though seemingly small, affects all that is. As we become more aware in our yoga practice and in our lives, as we move away from force and violence and toward sensitivity, feeling, and awareness, we change our individual consciousness and actions. In turn, these changes influence the consciousness and the actions of everyone we meet. Slowly, we shift the direction the world is taking. As we practice each asana, whether it be a challenging twist such as Ardha Matsyendrasana II (Half Lord of the Fishes II Pose) or a simple standing pose such as Tadasana (Mountain Pose), we have the opportunity to become the embodiment of peace and to make our practice a prayer for harmony in the world.”
